There are currently 2 ships worth using with a third one available, but it will not see any use for a long time. New players should always use the Baratie when they start off, but not upgrade it. All cola should be devoted to these ships, with the top of the list having priority as upgrading is not guaranteed.
Note: Cola is obtained while doing stages/missions, they are best farmed from long one on half stamina day. A common favorite is Arlong Park Stage 15 (10 battles for 6 stamina). You will generally farm a lot while trying to get a story farm-able character like Crocodile.
